The holiday season is upon us, which means video game deals, deals, deals. Nintendo announced some of their plans with a cutesy video starring Luigi, announcing a Nintendo Switch Bundle with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a Nintendo 2DS bundle with the handheld version of Super Mario Maker.
And, uh, that’s it for now. Not only are these relatively old games, but both are different versions of even older Wii U games. Anyone looking for bundles with newer games like Super Mario Party or even the likes of Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to purchase for their loved ones may be slightly disappointed.
The inclusion of a 2DS bundle does indicate that Nintendo is still committed to that device as an affordable alternative to the higher-end Nintendo Switch. And as Super Mario Maker was a gem that likely wasn’t experienced by enough people, the opportunity to move more copies could be a plus. Not to mention, there are plenty of other weirder Switch bundles that will be available by then.
Nintendo is trying to assist people in their holiday shopping as best as possible, through means of physical demo stations in select shopping centers, and a handy holiday season online guide on their own website. A quick scroll through that guide will remind visitors that people can purchase two Nintendo Labo kits for $99 at Best Buy.
Also on Nintendo’s website is a “Fun on a budget” section, which nudges potential customers to more affordable games and bundle options. Naturally, the free-to-play Fortnite is included in that list.
As for those two bundles, the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Nintendo Switch will go for $299.99, and the Nintendo 2DS Super Mario Maker bundle will cost $79.99. If you for some reason want to use tiny fake steering wheels for Mario Kart, a pair of Joy-Con wheel accessories will be available for $14.99.
