Another month, another line-up of free games for Xbox Live Gold members. The marquee title this time around would probably be Battlefield 1, the blockbuster first-person World War I shooter from last year. The DICE game is accompanied by indie endless runner Race the Sun, and Xbox 360 titles Assassin’s Creed (the original, that is) and Dante’s Inferno from the now-defunct Visceral Games.
Battlefield 1 is making its return the same month that its successor, Battlefield V, is releasing. Having missed Battlefield 1 last year, I’m looking forward to finally giving it a try, even if just to get me in the mood for the latter title. It’s always nice to see lesser known titles get some attention with these monthly free games too, with Race the Sun riding the wave.
With the Assassin’s Creed series having evolved and changed so much in the past decade, longtime fans of the series (i.e. not me) will be able to revisit the first installment and see just how it compares to the likes of the gargantuan Odyssey.
And if you’re still grieving over the loss of Visceral Games, the God of War-ish Dante’s Inferno might reawaken some fun memories. Like some of these other games in the line-up, I haven’t gone through Dante’s Inferno myself, but I know that the title still has a decent following.
According to Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb, Battlefield 1 will be available to Xbox Live Gold members for the entire month of November, with Race the Sun being available from November 16 to December 15, Assassin’s Creed from November 1 to 15, and Dante’s Inferno from November 16 to 30. All just in time for Thanksgiving, I guess.
