Today Ubisoft released a brand new trailer of its upcoming open-world action RPG Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
The video is all about combat customization. We get to see the three skill trees that let you progress within the game with over thirty new abilities that can be mixed and matched to make your own version of a Spartan Mercenary.
While the base combat is based on Assassin’s Creed Origins, the abilities add a further layer of complexity, and mobility is a much greater focus.
We also hear about defensive options. The lack of a shield doesn’t mean that those are lacking, as the ability to parry blows is very effective, creating an opportunity to strike back.
That being said, stealth is definitely still a thing, and you can combine it with combat and the powers of the Spear of Leonidas for a very versatile battle system.
Last, but not least, we see the gear screen, with weapons and equipment that can be upgraded at the blacksmith. Of course, the video ends in a pretty inevitable way.
You can check it out below. If you want to see more about the game, you can also check out an earlier video about RPG mechanics, plenty of footage of the game from E3 2018. You can also grab yourself a dedicated PS4 theme and read our hands-on preview.
The game will come for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 5th, with two days of early access if you purchase one of the special editions.
Assassn’s Creed Odyssey game is already available for pre-order on Amazon.
