Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire brought players back into a rich, deep RPG experience earlier this year alongside a new setting and cast of characters, and now those looking for more adventures will have plenty to look forward to in a few weeks with the release of the game’s first major expansion.
Obsidian Entertainment has announced the first of three major expansion packs for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire called “Beast of Winter,” with the expansion itself to release on August 2nd, 2018. The expansion will arrive alongside the game’s 2.0 update, which will provide numerous bug fixes and balance improvements and a new set of challenge modes for veteran players.
A full description for the expansion and what to expect can be found below from Obsidian:
Upon receiving a missive from an isle of worshipers to the god of entropy and disaster, Beast of Winter takes the Watcher and his crew to the southernmost reaches of the Deadfire Archipelago. The Watcher is thought to be the harbinger of the end of all things and worshipers of the god of cold and decay, Rymrgand, have called upon the Watcher to fulfill their destiny.
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is available now on PC, Mac, and Linux, and will be heading to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later this year, while its “Beast of Winter” DLC will launch on August 2nd, 2018.
