Vampyr is set to launch next week and Dontnod Entertainment has decided to push out the launch trailer early to give us more of a look into the third-person single-player title.
After arriving back in a 1918 London, Protagonist Dr. Jonathan Reid a freshly turned vampire discovers secret societies and ancient orders that intend to take him down. The citizens of London are also fighting a deadly disease, Ried, being a famous surgeon and blood transfusion specialist may be their only chance of surviving. Don’t be surprised if Dr. Reaid sounds familiar. Dontnod Entertainment gave us a good look at Dr. Reid in this behind the scenes video.
The citizens of Vampyr are all connected through social webs and can impact the narrative. As a vampire, Reid needs to feed in order to evolve and unlock new abilities, but choices have consequences. The game has four main districts that each have their own health status making feeding a more tactical system. You can find out more about the moral implications that are present in the game by checking out the video related to the moral compass. Drop a health status of a district too much and creatures will finish the area off, although this doesn’t mean that the game is over.
Should players wish to pre-order via Amazon, they’ll get themselves access to bonus DLC, “The Hunters Heirlooms.” This DLC will introduce two weapons: the Dragonsbane sword and the Barker pistol. It will also include the dark physician suit. This DLC will be available to purchase after launch separately.
Vampyr is due for launch on June 5, 2018 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Before Vampyr went gold a few weeks ago, it was originally delayed to Spring 2018. A Twitch stream will be taking place on the 4th of June in which Dontnod Entertainment developers will be running a live Q&A. In the meantime, check out the trailer below:
