Today, China’s Royal Never Give Up defeated South Korea’s King-Zone DragonX in a 3-1 series at the 2018 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Finals held in Paris, France.
The two teams squared off in a best-of-five series giving viewers some great action. In the end, RNG was able to outperform KZ finishing the series in four games before winning the title. After winning, you can hear the crowds roar as they chant “Uzi,” the team’s ADC and most well-known player.
After medals were handed out, Uzi was asked, “What does it mean to you to win this international title and lift the trophy at MSI?” After more applause, he responded, “I’ve been trying to win this title for six years now. I can’t imagine that I’m standing here [right now] winning this trophy. Super excited for this moment.”
This is the first time a non-South Korean won the Mid-Season Invitational since 2015 in Tallahassee, Florida. Similarly, Chinese team EDward Gaming defeated South Korea team SK Telecom. However, that series went into five games instead of just four.
