Released only a few months ago at the end of last year, Capcom’s Puzzle Fighter brought together the many familiar faces and franchises from across Capcom’s properties together into a free-to-play mobile experience, though it appears that the game will be coming to an end this summer.
In a blog post update from the studio, Capcom Vancouver confirmed that development for the studio’s mobile, free-to-play puzzle game Puzzle Fighter will conclude this summer, as the studio will be “dedicating its focus to our flagship Dead Rising franchise.”
Specifically, the game will be removed from iOS and Android’s app stores on July 1st, 2018, and the game’s servers will be shut down on July 31st, 2018. In the meantime, the game will remain playable until July 31st, 2018 and all players will receive a bonus of 10,000 in-game currency to spend in the game.
Additionally, Capcom will also be making several of the upcoming characters unlocked for all players to enjoy, such as Regina, Dr. Wily, and Ada Wong, along with a few new stages, Darminor and Uroboros Laboratory. Regina and Dr. Wily will be available today, while Ada Wong and the new stages will arrive free to players on April 23rd, 2018. The game’s soundtrack will also be available to stream and listen to via SoundCloud.
Finally, Capcom noted that the “Classic Mode” limited time event will be available to all players until the game’s server shutdown in July, and in-app purchases will be disabled in the game starting on April 23rd, 2018. Players can, however, continue to use any previously-purchased in-game currency to upgrade characters until the server shutdown.
