Developer Fatshark finally released its co-op action game Warhammer: Vermintide 2 on March 8 after several pre-release betas. According to the developers, this title has been a runaway success since it launched, with them revealing that Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has already sold over 500K copies in just the four days since its launch on PC.
500,000 units sold in such a short period of time is an impressive feat for any game, let alone a PC exclusive from a smaller developer. That being said, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 was a sequel and a co-op focused game, so there were clearly many players interested in it. In addition to those sales numbers, Fatshark also released some other stats for Warhammer: Vermintide 2.
Since launch, players have apparently killed over 50 billion enemies and spent a total of 204 million minutes watching people stream the game on Twitch. Martin Wahlund, the CEO of Fatshark, commented on the success of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 at launch:
“We are proud and happy that gamers worldwide have taken Warhammer: Vermintide 2 to their hearts. 500,000 games sold was a milestone that we had, but not less than a week after release.”
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is currently available on PC and will release on PS4 and Xbox One later this year, with console betas happening later this Spring.
