Crisis Wing offers the combination of arcade and shooter, perfect to remind you of your childhood. This arcade shooter is sure to make you feel as though you’re back in the ’90s or early 2000s.
Growing up as a ’90s child and going to the arcade to play any of the shooters or fighter games always found a way to get me excited. Crisis Wing seems like a perfect game to bring that nostalgia back, especially since arcades don’t seem to be that huge anymore.

HOW IT PROVIDES ’90s ARCADE NOSTALGIA
- Vertical Shooting
It’s been a while since I’ve played a game focused on vertical shooting. This was a huge theme during the ’80s and ’90s video game era. If this doesn’t offer instant nostalgia for you, maybe some of the other things on this list will.
- CRT Filter
To add to the arcade game feel, Crisis Wing gives you the opportunity to turn on CRT filters. These filters add the old arcade game lines and distorted video look to make you feel as though you’ve time traveled. This is one of the absolute perfect parts of the game that will surely make you nostalgic and missing your childhood.
- Bosses aplenty
It wouldn’t be a true arcade shooter game if there weren’t multiple fights to be had. So in true shooter fashion, throughout the game, you will have many mini-bosses as well as big bosses to conquer in order to move forward with the game. This is an aspect of the game that I’ve always loved with arcade shooters as there is that sense of competitiveness to try and be better than all the bosses, both big and small.
- Soundtrack
If there’s one thing I’m sure many of us could never forget from our days of playing arcade games, it would have to be the amazing soundtracks. Even now, if someone was to be playing Pac-Man around me, I would notice the music right away. This is a feature that is present in this game as well. A rocking soundtrack to ensure you feel as though you’re at an arcade.
- Local Co-Op
The last, but certainly not least, reason is the co-op option. Though it allows you to play solo, it also gives the option to play with a friend close by, similar to the typical arcade games. Do you remember going to the arcade with your friends, threatening to beat them and be the best? If yes, this is exactly what this offers. Though you won’t be winning any specific prizes, it gives you bragging rights that last forever, unless your friend asks for a rematch and wins.
If you were in search of a video game to give you a nostalgic feeling, this is definitely it.
Crisis Wing was released on September 18, 2020, and can be played on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and PC. It is currently 25% off on Steam for US$5.99 instead of the original price of $7.99.
