Sega revealed on today’s SegaNama stream that the Yakuza: Like a Dragon DLC update will launch on April 9. The DLC is officially titled the Premium Masters Pack, to reflect how only players who mastered this Yakuza RPG will be able to clear its contents.
The Yakuza: Like a Dragon DLC will have:
- Two new difficulty modes named Hard and Ex Hard
- The Super Final Millenium Tower, a super hard dungeon where every enemy is level 99
- New shops selling rare items so they’re easier to farm
- New PS4 trophies
- Job Rank limit moved to 99
- Being able to upgrade weapons even further, to the Kiwami level.
Game Director Ryosuke Horii mentioned during the SegaNama stream even the devs at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have trouble clearing the Super Final Millenium Tower, so it’ll definitely keep you busy. He insisted that he CAN clear it himself though.
You’ll need to have cleared the game once to be able to select Premium New Game and the Hard and Ex Hard difficulties.
The last thing important to note about this new DLC is that it’s free. Or rather, practically free. From April 9 to May 6, the DLC will be 7 Yen. Nagoshi explained that Sega wanted to make the DLC free, but doing so can be troublesome (probably because of certain regulations) so they gave it a symbolic price. It’s 7 yen because the game is Ryu Ga Gotoku 7. Starting May 7, the DLC will be priced at 980 Yen. This is similar to what happened with players who already had Persona 5‘s DLC in Japan and who got it all back in Persona 5 Royal for only 10 yen. Atlus and Sega couldn’t make it actually free because of certain regulations.
New separate costumes and item packs DLCs costume will also be coming soon.
EX Hard Mode gameplay of the Super Final Millenium Tower played by Ryosuke Horii was shown as well on SegaNama:

On the stream, Nagoshi talks about anything and everything and also answers questions from fans. He once even talked about how if he ever worked with Hideo Kojima, they’d probably end up making a TV cooking show. In a recent episode, Toshihiro Nagoshi also spoke about the upcoming April 2020 changes to Sega as a company, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Sakura Wars‘ sales in Japan.
Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama recently chatted about the various possibilities for the next game in the series.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon is already available since January 16 in Japan under the name Ryu Ga Gotoku 7 Hikari to Yami no Yukue. The PS4 exclusive is coming later in 2020 in the west. It’ll likely all these DLC will be included from the start in the western version.
