With the calendar ready to turn over to the month of May this Wednesday, Microsoft has today unveiled which games will be made available for free in the upcoming month as part of its Games with Gold service.
Starting this week on May 1, Xbox Live Gold members will be able to snag the Xbox One title Marooners. The game’s availability will also last for the entirety of the month until May 31. As for the other Xbox One title available in May, The Golf Club 2019 featuring PGA Tour will also be hitting the service later in the month on May 16. It will be available to download for free up until June 15.
As for the throwback games in May, two Xbox 360 titles are hitting the program. The first, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, will be available to download starting on May 1 and will last until May 15. Afterward, on May 16, Twisted Pixel’s Comic Jumper will then be available to snag for free and will last until the end of the month on the 31st.
All in all, this is a pretty weak month if I do say so myself. I’m normally not one to complain too much about Games with Gold, or even PlayStation Plus free games for that matter, but I can’t deny that May’s lineup isn’t too great. Not only are the games here in question kind of uninteresting (unless you really like golf games), but the total retail value seems to be lower than normal.
Alas, not every month can be a winner though. Hopefully, some more notable games will be available come June.
