Activision-Blizzard may have underdelivered with their latest remaster; however, that doesn’t take away from the success that is WoW Classic. Letting players jump back 15 years and immerse themselves in the original World of Warcraft experience is such a treat. And now, worthy players can test their mettle in Blackwing Lair and try to defeat Nefarian and his forces once again.
Blackwing Lair is notorious for having a sizeable skill gate as the first boss. Razorgore the Untamed requires great team coordination throughout as you work against his unique mechanics. At the end of the raid is the dangerous Nefarian, the eldest son of Deathwing. His is a long fight that forces everyone to constantly be on their toes. Plus, he requires everyone to have a specific item equipped or they’ll die very quickly.
As far as best-remembered raids, I would say Blackwing Lair isn’t high on most players lists. Some of the fights are great, but it lacks the pizzaz of places like Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj, Molten Core or Naxxaramas. However, the rewards you can earn are undoubtedly awesome. The Tier 2 sets remain some of the best Blizzard has ever done. The Paladin’s Judgment set is arguably the most famous set in that classes’ long history. The Rogue and Shaman sets are equally great.
Alongside the new raid, Activision-Blizzard is also adding some new faction rewards and class quests. Those quests are a fun time for players level 50 and above. And the new rep rewards will give you plenty of content to grind on in between raids.
WoW Classic is available now on PC. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have more Alterac Valley fights to get into.
