Deep Silver and 5 Lives have recently released a new gameplay video from Windbound, explaining various features of the game and showing off the game’s procedurally generated islands.
Windbound is a survival adventure game in which your mission is to explore hundreds of different islands in an otherworldly forbidden paradise, where Kara finds herself unconscious in there at the beginning of the game. While gathering more resources from various islands to craft new items for yourself, you will also get to learn more about the game’s world as you find different special artifacts in some of the unique islands. Here you can check out the new gameplay footage:
Your main vehicle to explore this world is an upgradable boat. Each island has its own kind of creatures and weather, which sometimes makes it tough to sail to the stormy islands. Also, you might encounter some deadly sea creatures on your way to your destination, which requires you to upgrade different parts of your boat.
While you can sneak around the dangerous animals, the game gives you the option to craft different weapons and defend yourself against any kind of threat throughout your journey.
Visually, Windbound features low-polygon but beautiful graphics which reminds me of the announcement trailer that we saw from Rare’s Everwild last year. There are lots of beautiful locations in Windbound to explore. There’s no end or invisible walls in the game, which means as much as you sail in its world, you will discover new islands and locations.
Windbound is the second title from 5 Lives Studios after Sattelite Reign, which was a co-op top-down real-time strategy set in a cyberpunk world.
Windbound will be hitting Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 28. If you pre-order the game, you will get a special ancestral outfit for Kara, along with a unique knife and oar.
