Recently, a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild speedrunner named Joedun pulled off the unthinkable. After more than 100 tries, they finally pulled off the perfect, no-damage run. That means doing everything, even all the Korok seeds, without taking damage. It’s undoubtedly impressive, but where does the Joedun Breath of the Wild speed run rank amongst some of the other crazy speed runs we’ve seen over the years? Well, let’s talk about it.
I was the first person in the world to 100% complete #BreathoftheWild without taking damage. Never again pic.twitter.com/YnIbdQPb8E

Now, before we get started, it’s nearly impossible to truly rank different speed runs. I mean, they’re different games for one thing. And does it make sense to reward pure speed over the sheer will and determination of a marathon run? So, this is less of a ranking and just a look at some of the best speed runs out there. That all being said, it’s worth noting that the Joedun Breath of the Wild run is going to go down as one of the most insane things you’ll ever see.
Celeste (Any%) in Under 27 Minutes
The movement here is just outstanding. Celeste is one of my personal favorite games to watch speed run and this recent world record by Buhbai is just sublime. Obviously, every speed run is going to require incredibly precise input from the runner, but, like Super Meat Boy before it, Celeste is a delight to watch someone with skill blast through.
Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy in 1 Minute
As someone who never even finished Getting Over It, this is incredible. Blastbolt just flies through the game. Even with a few misses early in the run, they’re able to grab the world record. If you want to see movement perfected, this a great run to watch.
Cookie Clicker in Under 7 Minutes
I’ll admit, I have some bias for this one. I have spent an ungodly number of hours playing Cookie Clicker, so seeing someone with the level of finger dexterity to pull this off is mind-boggling. Look at how fast they click and tell me this isn’t one of the best speed runs of all time!
Dark Souls Trilogy No Hit Run
The other runs on this list are more of the speed variety, which is what makes the Joedun Breath of the Wild run so hard to rank. However, The Happy Hob’s no-hit run is about as close as we can get to what Joedun did. Both are remarkable feats of skill and will power. These aren’t runs you can take lightly. They require insane levels of dedication and a teensy bit of luck.
Regardless of the type of run you prefer to watch, it’s undeniable that the Joedun Breath of the Wild run is going to go down as one of the greats. And even the selection we have above barely captures the breadth of runs available. So, if you have any speedruns you love, make sure to let us know about them in the comments.
