Despite the Playstation 5 and the Xbox Series X and S flying off shelves faster than they can be restocked, it’s no surprise that the real console behemoth is the Nintendo Switch. Perfect for casual and hardcore gamers alike, the Switch has been one of Nintendo’s best-selling pieces of hardware ever. As more and more rumors circulate the internet regarding the Switch pro, it seems like we’re right on the verge of an official announcement. So here’s our running theory on the Nintendo Switch Pro release date.
As crazy as it might sound, the Nintendo Switch Pro release date might be sometime later in 2021. I know, I know, people were saying that the announcement has been coming for nearly a year at this point, but with new evidence, it actually seems reasonable.
The “new evidence” I’m referring to comes in the form of a leaker posting on a Reset Era forum. Reliable leaker NateDrake spoke about the rumored Switch Pro saying that they are “confident it gets announced this year.” They follow up that statement by saying, “A delay to 2022 would need to be communicated in the next few months, as dev kits and third-party partners begin to plan software for the device. As of this very moment (Feb 18, 2021), I believe the hope remains for a 2021 launch.”
While a leaker on a forum clearly doesn’t officially confirm anything, it definitely adds to the pile of evidence stacking up for an official announcement. Things right now are feeling similar to how they felt last year when the Xbox Series S was announced: a lot of leaks and speculation leading to the eventual console announcement. Nintendo and Microsoft clearly have different ways that they handle such situations, but at this point, anything can happen.
As always, take these leaks and rumors with a grain of salt.
