inXile Entertainment today announced on Twitter that Wasteland Remastered will release on February 25th.
You’ve been asking, and now we can share…

Presently a digital-only release, the game will be available for PC (Windows Store, Steam, GOG) and Xbox One. The latter will support Xbox Game Pass, though there’s no word on if the PC version will likewise be supported. There’s no confirmed Switch or PS4 release currently, though the Wasteland account on Twitter says not to rule out the possibility later. inXile has collaborated with Krome Studios (of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger fame) to develop the remaster, updating the visuals and audio while simultaneously honoring the original title.
Comparison screenshots were shared on Twitter back in November.
Sharing that new Wasteland Remastered keyart felt goooood.
It’s Friday, right? Let’s keep the good times rolling. Here are a couple pre-alpha comparison shots.

Wasteland originally released way back in 1988, featuring one of the first persistent worlds in gaming. It was later re-released on Steam back in 2013 in the lead up to 2014’s Wasteland 2 release. Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut has since been released for all current-gen systems; furthermore, Wasteland 3 is currently on track for release on May 19, 2020.
Interplay’s inability to reacquire the Wasteland license is what lead them to develop the original Fallout. If you’re curious to see where it all came from, but struggle to deal with a three-decade-old interface, the wait is almost over!
