Valorant’s Release Date is Set for Early June

Valorant entered its closed beta phase only back in April with a planned launch date that was set to arrive in summer. Now, with that summer window rapidly approaching, Riot Games has announced when the 1.0 version of the game will arrive and it’s much sooner than you’d think.

Revealed on Twitter this afternoon, Riot unveiled that Valorant will fully launch on PC sooner than anticipated on June 2, 2020, which is less than two weeks from now. Some of the team members behind the popular shooter said that they have been working hard to try to get the game into the hands of all fans as soon as possible given the current state of the world.

In addition to now being able to be played by everyone, the full launch of Valorant will bring a few other things with it. Most notably, a new agent will be joining the game’s roster alongside the addition of a new map and game mode. Riot hasn’t said what this new game mode will be specifically just yet, but it has made clear that it won’t be Team Deathmatch.

Alongside announcing this release date for Valorant, some developers from Riot also appeared on Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest platform today to talk a bit more about the title. While most of the conversation centered on the future of the FPS, Keighley also inquired about the current anti-cheat system in Valorant and the larger conversation that has sprung up around that element of the game in recent weeks.
