Vader Immortal Arriving on PSVR This Summer

News, oculus, Originals, PS4, Vader Immortal, Vader Immortal PSVR, Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series

May the 4th be with you all. Today, there’s some special news for our more force-sensitive readers. If you’ve got a PS4 and have your PSVR all hooked up, you’ll be ready when Vader Immortal, in its entirety, arrives on the platform this Summer.

Announced in a post by Mark Miller, the creative director at developer ILMxLAB, over on the PlayStation Blog, this will be the first time the entire Vader Immortal series is available as a bundle. Prior to this release, the trilogy of VR titles and its matching lightsaber dojos have only been available on PC, through the Oculus Rift and Quest.

In the post, Miller writes on the difficulties of bringing both lightsabers and Vader’s ominous presence to VR. According to the post, one of the first parts of the game the team at ILMxLAB focused on was not just using a lightsaber, but having it feel correct. Working with DmC: Devil May Cry developer Ninja Theory, lightsabers were continually tweaked until the feeling of deflecting a blaster bolt or cutting through steel was perfected. The work put towards the game earned it the title of Best AR/VR game at the 2020 GDC awards, as well as the Producer’s Guild Innovation Award earlier this year.

While that’s exciting by itself, there’s still a lot we don’t know about Vader Immortal‘s port over to PSVR. Besides the vague release window of this summer, there’s no word yet of how much the bundle will cost when it does come out. Going off of listed prices on the Oculus Store, where each episode is $10 a pop, a $30 price tag on the PlayStation Store isn’t outside the realm of possibility.

If you just can’t wait for Vader Immortal to arrive on PSVR and you have an Oculus sitting around, you can always pick it up on there. Just be aware, the game is only available on the Oculus store, right here.
