As one of the most acclaimed games of last year, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey gave players of the series an expanded world full of player choice and decision, including giving the option for players to have romantic relationships over the course of the game. However, after recent scrutiny regarding some of that choice having been taken away in the game’s recent DLC, Ubisoft appears to be making some changes to the DLC in the near future to better reflect the choices of players.
In a statement on the official forums for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Ubisoft detailed that the studio will appear to be making some changes to the second chapter of the game’s “Legacy of the First Blade” DLC expansion, which came under criticism by fans for the storyline forcing either of the main characters, Alexios and Kassandra, into a set path in terms of their prior relationships and romances that players formed earlier in the game.
According to a Ubisoft community manager, the studio will be “making changes to a cutscene and some dialogue in Shadow Heritage to better reflect the nature of the relationship for players selecting a non-romantic storyline,” along with renaming one of the game’s Trophies/Achievements. The changes are currently in development and will be added through an upcoming patch for the game.
In addition to the alterations that are being made to the second episode of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey‘s DLC, Ubisoft also detailed that it will be “carefully looking at the next episode,” titled “Bloodline,” to make sure that the paths that players will be able to take as either Kassandra or Alexios will be better reflected in the choices that they made in other parts of the game.
Given the way that the second chapter of the DLC expansion for Odyssey left fans on a bit of a sour note, the fact that Ubisoft is preparing to implement some changes to the narrative should hopefully provide a bit of consolation for the misdirections its narrative might have taken, along with the fact that the third episode will appear to be a bit more tailored to the relationships and romances that players developed throughout their journey.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
