Today, during a pre-E3 presentation hosted by Sony Interactive Entertainment, we got the reveal of the new game by Life Is Strange creators Dontnod Entertainment: Twin Mirror.
The game is published by Bandai Namco and will come in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In case you were wondering, it’s a multiplatform game.
The reveal included a trailer letting us meet the protagonist Samuel and the weird situation he’s in and the city of Basswood, alongside a batch of screenshots, that you can see below.
As usual for Dontnod, the story is shaped by the player’s choices as they lead Sam in finding his bearings through reality, the dark secrets of Basswood, and his own personal struggle.
Sam is 33 years old journalist who is trying to come to terms with a harsh breakup. He’s going back home for a friend’s funeral when he wakes up in a hotel and finds his own shirt covered in blood, with no memories of what happened the night before. Players will relive his memories, shaping his own personality as they go through “painful and difficult choices.”
In the press release, Dontnod CEO Oskar Guilbert explains that the game aims to redefine the narrative adventure genre, pushing beyond its limits. Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe Marketing Vice President Hervé Hoerdt mentioned that the game marks the publisher’s debut in the genre, and explained that it aims to surpass high standards and lay the foundations for the development of narrative adventures in the years to come.
