Outright Games announced on June 11 Transformers: Battlegrounds, coming October 23, 2020, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The game is an action game featuring the Autobots fighting Megatron and the Decepticons.
The official site describes the story, and how evil Transformer villain Megatron is as always trying to obtain the Allspark. So Bumblebee and all the Autobots Hasbros band together to fight. They look for a new commander, and find you, the player, to save earth. Transformers: Battlegrounds is said to feature multiple environments including Central City, and Cybertron.
Battlegrounds will also include both single player and mutliplayer modes.
Transformers: Battlegrounds‘ announcement trailer is included below along with some screenshots.
In the past, Outright Games has developed multiple game adaptations based on children-oriented movies including Jumanji (the newest version with The Rock). The studio also teamed up with Cartoon Network to produce games based on the Ben 10 and Adventure Time franchises. Taking all this into account, it’s safe to assume Transformers: Battlegrounds will have a similar cartoon-y approach in its gameplay or story. The game is rated 7+ as well.
Personally speaking, I don’t know much about Transformers besides watching the 3DCG Beast Wars series as a kid and some of the Japanese OAVs. Battlegrounds could be an exciting game to grab. For those really into Transformers, especially if you’ve got kids into the series.
