The Geofront Team who fan translated The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki, have officially partnered up with NIS America for official localization of the games: Trails From Zero and Trails to Azure, bringing the Crossbell arc to PS4, Switch, and PC officially in the west.
The announcements were made at the Nihon Falcom 40th anniversary concert organized by NIS America and New Game Plus Expo.
In a blog post, The Geofront team explained its own translation will serve as a basis for the official releases. The titles picked for the fan translation, Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure, are now official. The fan patches’ distribution has ceased as well. The post also includes heartfelt messages from Geofront members Gu4n, Zerker, Omgfloofy, Ribose, and Scott.

Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure – Crossbell games localization by NISA, Geofront, makes history
Fans have been awaiting for ten years since the release of Zero and Ao in 2010 and 2011 on PSP in Japan for the games to get localized. These past two years, The Geofront team released mods for the games’ PC versions, which not only added an English translation, but also remastered the games and added several quality of life improvements.
It’s incredible to see the team partnered up with NIS America so the work they have done so far can help pave the way officially for the series and support its expansion in North America and Europe.
It’s unconfirmed for now, but it’s very likely the English official versions of Zero and Azure will be based on the 2019 PS4 Kai ports, which were themselves based on the Evolution PS Vita ports that add full voice acting.
Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo teased the Kai versions games would be coming west, and I also asked him about it during our chat before the PS4 ports were officially announed in Japan. (full interview).
In a touching video message during the concert, Toshihiro Kondo most notably shared once again how he clearly remember fans asking him for Crossbell back at that San Francisco event he participated in years ago.
This is definitely not an announcement I expected to see, and this is particularly hype for the future of the series. Everything’s possible now, and I believe in Adol joining Smash Bros harder than ever before.

Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure, Trails Into Reverie, Nayuta Boundless Trails release dates
Trails from Zero is scheduled to launch on PS4, Switch, and PC via Epic Games Store in Fall 2022.
Trails to Azure will launch in 2023 on PS4, Switch, and PC via Epic Games Store.
The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails will launch in 2023 on PS4, Switch, and PC via Epic Games Store.
Trails Into Reverie will also launch in 2023 on the same platforms.
Personally speaking, I believe Falcom will not release a Kiseki game either in 2022 and 2023. We should be getting Ys X, Ys V remake, or some other games. So after The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki releases on September 30, 2021 in Japan, it’ll be the only game left to localize. Possibly for a 2024 English release, and then the series will be up to date in North America and Europe. Assuming my guesses are correct.
