Lunar Ray Games has announced that their indie platformer Timespinner will be launching on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on September 25, 2018 for $19.99 USD. Inspired by classic 2D platformers from the 1990s, Timespinner follows Lunais, a young woman traveling through time to get revenge on an empire that killed her family. This game was kickstarted in summer of 2014, raising $176,667 of its $50,000 goal.
Timespinner features several unique gameplay features, such as Time-Stop that will freeze enemies in the room to be used as platforms or to get a better angle for combat. Each moment time is frozen consumes your Sand resource. Attacks are based around orb attacks, equipping and mixing up different orbs for different attacks. Each have a melee attack, a spell attack, and a passive boost. Spells and passive abilities must be unlocked by visiting an Alchemist first. Magic consumes Aura which will regenerate on its own. Orbs also level up by gaining experience from defeating enemies.
This game is a passion project from Bodie Lee who has been working on the fiction since he was in grade school. Multiple collectibles will detail characters, the history, and fill in an encyclopedia of the world. As usual, optional character quests offer unique rewards, and cutscenes are skippable. Decisions made in the far past will have unintended consequences on the present, though Lee does not lay out any specifics on what you can expect. You can check out the gameplay trailer below.
