The Wolf Among Us 2 will be the first Telltale game since the studio’s conception that will not use the Telltale Tool engine and instead utilize Unreal Engine 4 for its development. In an interview with USGamer, LCG Entertainment CEO Jaime Ottilie states “We have completely restarted the development of the game. We felt it best to give the new creative team a clean slate to start with.” Ottilie also mentioned in a separate interview with IGN that they are planning to make the new Telltale studio to have a crunch-free workload.

The sequel was originally announced back in 2017 with later being canceled in 2018 after the fallout of the studio causing an end to all ongoing projects. The studio was later brought back after LCG Entertainment bought the studio and all its assets and licenses outside of The Walking Dead which is now at Skybound Entertainment. The Wolf Among Us 2 was re-announced just a few weeks ago at The Game Awards and is being developed by Telltale and AdHoc Studio which formed earlier this year and includes numerous veterans of Telltale before they closed the doors. These vets include The Wolf Among Us lead writer Pierre Shorette and directors Nick Herman and Dennis Lenart. AdHoc will focus on the narrative and cinematic aspects of the title while Telltale will work on the rest of the project.

Being a huge fan of the original, it is great to see that those who worked on the first game will be working on the sequel. I hope all the hurdles that this project had to go through will be worth it in the end. As of now, there is no release window for The Wolf Among Us 2, but it is confirmed to come to consoles and PC exclusively to the Epic Games Store.
