When it comes to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, cosplayers certainly have it in the bag when it comes to reenacting their favorite character from the award-winning RPG by developer CD Projekt. Whether it’s dressing up as the sultry sorceress Yennifer, the determined Witcheress Ciri, or the annoyingly humourous Bard Dandelion, The Witcher 3 plays host to every walk of life so that amateur and professional cosplayers can easily fill their shoes. Of course, in saying that, not everyone can be successful in taking on a strong persona especially one such as the one and only Geralt of Rivia but as we can see from this cosplay when it works, it works really well.
Say hello to Lauren who goes by the name of laurendoescosplay over on Instagram. Lauren loves nothing more than spending her time crafting outfits for a huge host of incredible fantasy characters. Today, however, we see Lauren taking on the role of the mighty Witcher, Geralt of Rivia otherwise known as The White Wolf, Butcher of Blaviken, or Gwynbleidd. As you can tell by the armor, it’s beautifully well designed and meticulously crafted. All of the costume is made by Lauren’s fair hands which means that every stud and stitch is lovingly placed by her. The sword you see Lauren holding is 3D printed and her outfit is constructed out of 6mm EVA foam.
Lauren initially made this entire Geralt costume all the way back in January this year after Netflix’s The Witcher show released which was in preparation for ECCC (Emerald City Comic Con) which unfortunately got canceled that very week so she never got the chance to wear it out in public or get any pictures of it. But thankfully, that changed last weekend when Lauren did a photo-shoot with @chiseledlight.cos and @shersten.the.golden who helped her relive and breathe life into Geralt of Rivia. I think it’s safe to say Lauren has done a cracking job at pulling off a female Geralt and I can’t wait to see what she does next. Check out some of the pictures from that very photoshoot, below. You’ll also see another familiar Witcher character, Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon better known as Ciri (well, the back of her head).
You can follow Lauren over on Instagram or Facebook and keep up to date on who she will be jumping into the shoes of next!
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt celebrated its 5-year anniversary a few months ago so, naturally, I took to my keyboard to type out why I still love it so much to this very day. If you have a few minutes, you can check that out right here. For all things monsters and mythology from The Witcher Netflix show, take a look at this guide that goes into great detail about the lore of the monsters that Geralt encounters. We also saw recently that a prequel to the incredibly good Netflix TV show The Witcher will be coming our way. The Witcher: Blood Origin will be set 1200 years before Geralt of Rivia, and will feature a chaotic world filled with monsters, men, and elves that will explore how the first Witcher developed. The TV series was one of Netflix’s biggest first seasons ever with over 76 million households tuning in to watch. In the years since its release, there have been tons of great fan creations and art, ranging from a comic book-style illustration of Geralt to a mockup of a Witcher-themed Xbox Series X console and also some of Geralt displaying his dad side.
Be sure to check out our own review for the Netflix series The Witcher here. If gaming is more your style, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
