To the shock of, well, pretty much no one, Naughty Dog’s latest game, The Last of Us Part II, ended up being the top-seller for the month of June in the PlayStation Store.
Revealed by the PlayStation Blog today, both North America and Europe saw The Last of Us Part II besting the competition within June. The game, which launched on June 19, outsold Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Grand Theft Auto V in North America while Europe saw FIFA 20 charting in second with Modern Warfare following right behind.
Again, none of this is a surprise whatsoever though given that we already knew The Last of Us Part II was selling like hotcakes. Sony announced that within the highly-anticipated sequel’s first three days, it had already passed 4 million copies sold in total. This made TLOU2 the fastest-selling PS4-exclusive of this generation, which is definitely impressive, especially considering just how well Final Fantasy VII Remake did earlier this year, too.
As for the other digital sales charts this month, North America’s top-selling PS VR game was GORN while Europe saw Beat Saber taking the top spot. Meanwhile, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners ranked in the top three for both regions.
Last but not least, the free-to-play charts in both NA and EU were identical when it came to the top three positions. Call of Duty: Warzone, Fortnite, and Apex Legends were the first three games on the list, which isn’t a surprise in the slightest.
The Last of Us Part II is available now on PS4. If you somehow haven’t read our own review of the game just yet, you can check it out right here.
