Bethesda released an official statement for The Elder Scrolls: Legends in its subreddit in regards to any new content. According to said statement, there was one more set scheduled to release this year. However, Bethesda has “decided to put any new content development or releases on hold for the foreseeable future.”
They also clarified that this wouldn’t impact the release and development of the GAEA’s Asia-specific version of Legends since it operates separately. They finished the announcement itself with: “Until then, you can still download and play Legends on all existing platforms and compete online as well as in the single-player modes. We will also continue to support the game with monthly reward cards and regular in-game events. New expansions and other future content, however, are no longer under active development. We will continue to provide ongoing maintenance support.”
And as thanks to players for supporting the game until now, Bethesda is “giving away The Tamriel Collection — an assortment of new, three-attribute cards and more — to all players for free upon their next login.”
There was official reason given to explain the sudden content hiatus. Naturally fans in the subreddit who supported the game for years took the announcement hard.
The latest update for the title was Elder Scrolls: Legends — Isle of Madness, which takes place in the Shivering Isles. It follows a father on a journey to save his son which eventually puts him at odds with the Daedric Prince of Madness. Isle of Madness included a new Double Card mechanic as well as two new kinds of lane conditions: Dementia and Mania.
Double Cards, simply enough, are contain two distinct cards in one package that only needs to be played once. After being drawn, a Double Card will split into the two cards that make it up, which should give players more options for less of a cost. As for the new lanes, the Dementia Lane damages the opponent if the player controls the most powerful card in play while the Mania Lane lets the player with the card that has the highest health draw another card.
All three of these mechanics seem like interesting new additions that should spice up The Elder Scrolls: Legends for longtime players. For those who want to pick Isle of Madness up, it will cost $19.99, though pre-ordering it will net you a Prince of Madness card back and player title: “The Shivering.”
The title was also set for release for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, as announced last year during E3. However, the PS4 version was thrown into doubt as cross-play is considered an “absolutely critical” feature.
