Today, Arc System Works America published a video message from Hidetaka Suehiro, nicknamed SWERY. The interview focuses on his studio White Owls’ upcoming game, The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories.

SWERY goes over the game’s story and what pushed his twelve-person studio to develop it. Nine of them worked on the game in total. Some of them were a bit skeptical at the beginning, with SWERY’s idea of an immortal main character hurting herself to solve puzzles, but they all gradually got into it and brought up even crazier ideas.

SWERY also notes how Deadly Premonition released in 2010, and D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die in 2014, meaning he’s only been able to release one game every four years. He explains that fact with how he puts everything into his games, and that The Missing will have a deep, meaningful message resonating with everyone, like his previous games.

The interview is included below. You can also read another one of SWERY’s interviews on the game, and take a look at the latest trailer. The game’s release date was announced a few weeks ago, with another trailer you can watch here.

Hopefully, The Good Life, which is another upcoming game by White Owls, won’t take four years to release.

The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories releases on October 11th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
