During Nintendo’s stellar Thanksgiving holidays they also sold 1 million copies of Super Mario Party for the Nintendo Switch in the United States, making it the fastest selling Mario Party game in the franchise.
This news come on top of the report that the Nintendo Switch just had its best-selling week in the United States ever, growing 115% compared to this same period last year. Super Mario Party released on October 5, 2018 and was a step up compared to other recent entries according to our review (which you can also watch in video form!).
Folks that moaned and groaned about being forced to travel around in a car with their opponents in Mario Party 10 for Wii U or not being able to play a minigame after each turn in Mario Party 9 for Wii can breathe a sigh of relief—Super Mario Party offers a vibrant, much-desired return to the franchise’s origins.
This places Super Mario Party at 13th in the list of best-selling Switch games, above Pokken Tournament DX and just below Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
I can personally attest to its quality as I won a game as Yoshi due to a bonus star given for moving the least amount of spaces, making it a true Mario Party victory.
More than 1 million #SuperMarioParty games have been sold in the U.S.! Thank you to all the party-goers for making this the fastest selling game in the Mario Party series. If you’re late to the party, it’s still a great time to hop in and enjoy the fun on #NintendoSwitch! pic.twitter.com/6wW5NVdu43
