It took a few years, but it seems as though EA has finally released a Star Wars video game that is surpassing all expectations.
Announced today during Electonic Arts’ financial call going over sales for the publisher’s third quarter of the current fiscal year, it was revealed that Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has already beaten the projections that EA initially had. In October of last year, EA announced that it was expecting Fallen Order to sell between 6 and 8 million copies before the end of the company’s fiscal year, which wraps up on March 31, 2020. However, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order had already bested that estimation in this third quarter alone. That means that from its release on November 15 until the end of 2019, Fallen Order has already surpassed the high-end of the initial projections, which is extremely impressive.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is expected to sell 10 million units by March 31st 2020 according to EA.

As a result of this, EA announced that it was altering its expectations for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order through the remainder of this fiscal year. EA said it now expects that the game will reach 10 million copies sold before the end of March, which definitely would be an impressive milestone, assuming the game can reach this marker.
It’s a bit ironic that EA’s first major single-player title that has released in the past few years has done so well for the publisher. EA has been notable in recent years for injecting live service elements in most of its major releases, many of which fans and critics alike have often been critical of. While Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order isn’t a game that will give EA recurring revenue streams, the company has to be more than pleased with how it has done at the market. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that these results will encourage EA to invest even further in single-player games moving forward.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Hopefully, the game’s success will encourage EA to bring back Knights of the Old Republic, which is recently been rumored to be in development in the form of a remake.
