It will also feature everything you remember from the initial release, including single-player campaigns, split-screen multiplayer, 25 racers, and several tracks from eight unique worlds.
“Star Wars fans can soon go full throttle with Aspyr’s update to the classic, fan-favorite, Star Wars Episode l: Racer,” said Elizabeth Howard, vice president of publishing at Aspyr, in the press release. “The beloved game has been modernized for the most optimal gaming experience on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Star Wars fans should get ready to steer their racer to victory and leave their opponents in the dust.”
StarWars.com interviewed Aspyr producer James Vicari to discuss the Star Wars Episode 1: Racer re-release. They talk about several facets of the upcoming game, including how the team modernized its control scheme. With Star Wars Episode 1: Racer coming to the Nintendo Switch, Vicari does confirm there will be multiple controller configurations and the team has ensured that each feels comfortable.
“You really want to make sure that the game plays well and embraces as much of the variations as possible for them. So we’ve done a lot of work to make sure that the game feels comfortable in all configurations, including playing with each individual Joy-Con,” says Vicari. “The team here is a big believer that the best control scheme is the one you don’t ever think about and that philosophy really permeates everything we’ve done with the controls.”
Personally, I’m excited to check out the Star Wars Episode 1: Racer re-release. I have a lot of fond memories playing this game for hours as Teemto Pagalies. I don’t know why they were the one I gravitated towards. Regardless, I’m excited to bring Teemto back into the driver’s seat.
