The developers of SoulCalibur VI discussed recent and future balance changes and the upcoming Create-A-Soul DLC during a live stream with the Japanese video game magazine Dengeki Online.
Interestingly, the developers had to split the balance changes between the already released 1.10 update and the upcoming 1.11 update because DLC character 2B from NieR: Automata ended up causing a delay with the balance updates. Working on her was the main priority of the team.
Beside the balance changes, Project Soul is attempting to improve the online matchmaking through adjustments that assure that everyone meets similarly experienced opponents online. The upcoming Ver 1.11 Patch is going to include:
- Changes to stages that made it easier for players to get a Ring Out” win than others.
- Various Hitbox Issues, mentioned in the stream were Astaroth and Cervantes.
- Removing differences of the ways a move works offline and online to harmonize the gameplay in both modes.
- Balance changes for all characters to balance the roster in general but also to emphasize the design philosophies behind each of the characters.
While we are going to see at least two more DLC characters coming to SoulCalibur VI, the next DLC is all about the Create-A-Soul Mode. There will be two packs with over 100 items, with the first one coming “soon” after the Ver. 1.11 Patch. It is going to have costume parts that are completely new, items from previous games, and some from characters that did not make it into SoulCalibur VI. Alongside the Create-A-Soul items, music from the previous SoulCalibur games is also being added.
The team also wants to release some Create-a-Soul pieces for free but no details were given about these items yet. SoulCalibur VI is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you haven’t caught our review where we awarded the game a 9.5 out of 10, make sure to check it out.. Anyone looking to get the game, including the Collector and Deluxe editions, can still do so on Amazon.
