Easy Day Studios has announced that a brand-new community created map has been added to the skateboarding game Skater XL. The map is available to download for free and comes to the game alongside a bunch of other items available to install through the in-game mod browser.
Players will be able to download the new Warehouse map that has been created by community member, Yaky. the level brings a bunch of outdoor skatepark aesthetics to an indoor setting, such as palm trees, and neon signs. The park itself is ripe with ledges, hips, rails, and quarterpipes for players to chain tricks, or just focus on specific spots.
While the map itself was created by Yaky, Easy Day Studios has worked to optimise the level while keeping it true to the creator’s original vision. You can watch the official trailer for the map below, seeing exactly how big it is, and what to expect should you download it.
In December last year, Easy Day Studios updated Skater XL to version 1.1 which introduced a library of mods that could be easily installed directly from inside the game. It was revealed that over 1 million mods had been downloaded in a single day with over 250 mods being available to choose from.
Along with the Warehouse map, Easy Day Studios said over 50 new additions have been added to the mod browser. This includes a bunch of gear to kit your skater or board out with. Griptape styles, decks, wheels, and clothing are some of the available items you should be able to apply to the game on whatever platform you’re running.
The game’s unique gameplay was touched on in an interview with DualShockers and boasts a very skater-themed soundtrack. It’s also been responsible for getting 2 members of DualShockers back on a physical board, myself included now.
Skater XL is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch port is in the works, although the release date according to a recent Q&A is still to be decided.
