Despite the nostalgic inspiration of Shovel Knight, developer Yacht Club Games is well known as a developer always looking to push Nintendo’s newest features. According to a tweet by the indie studio, this will include video capture support for the 2D darling.
When asked earlier this week if Shovel Knight for the Nintendo Switch will support video capture, Yacht Club issued a short but sweet response:
Video recording on Switch will be supported in SK’s next update, most likely with King of Cards next year.

Of course, it may be a surprise to you that Nintendo Switch even has a video capture feature. In mid-October, an update rolled out that allowed video capture, among other things. Unlike PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch version of video capture is limited to 30 seconds (so it is shareable on Facebook and Twitter) and only for a handful of titles. Besides the games already revealed, players can expect Shovel Knight and its accompanying DLC.
As mentioned above, the update should be releasing alongside the King of Cards DLC, whose details were only revealed in late August. Besides this new feature, players can expect a new campaign around the first boss of Shovel Knight: King Knight. The update will release on Nintendo Switch in 2018.
