Bandai Namco published a new trailer for Scarlet Nexus at Gamescom: Opening Night Live 2020. Protagonist Yuito Sumeragi and his psionic powers are heavily featured in the trailer, alongside characters we haven’t seen yet. They fight together against the Others, the invaders from the sky.
In particular there’s a pretty cool new female character who can seemingly clone herself with her psychic powers. The trailer also features new types of Others, and teases some kind of super form Yuito will unlock at some point. You can find the trailer right below. We also have profiles for all the characters translated and screenshots below.

Here are profiles and screenshots of the characters part of the Other Suppression Force we spot in the trailer.
Kasane Randall, voiced by Asami Seto.
A mysterious girl Yuito meets. She looks at lot like the OSF member who saved Yuito when he was a kid.
Hanabi Ichijo, voiced by Tomomi Mineuchi
Yuito’s childhood friend. A cheerful person. They reunite on the battlefield.
Nagi Karma, voiced by Yuuma Uchida
The moodmaker. He knows Yuito since their time at the OSF training school and they’re best friends.
Fubuki Spring, voiced by Isshin Chiba
The captain of the first division of the OSF. He has a lot of (female) fans because of his looks. He’s one of the seven strongest members of the OSF.
Yuito can use the psychic powers of his comrades using the SAS System. This lets him use two psionic powers at the same time. His own and someone else’s. In the screenshot above, he uses Hanabi’s fire powers.
Yuito’s super form seen in the trailer is the Drive System. You can trigger this ultimate technique when its gauge is full. But there are also certain unspecified setbacks to using this. The Japanese press release has no further details. It’s unclear if the drawbacks are gameplay related or story related or both.
(These are the Japanese terms for the features and might be named differently in English).
To be honest with you all I wasn’t particularly sold with the first trailers of Scarlet Nexus and its Brain Punk aesthetic, though it was also too early to judge. This new trailer however does look exciting and has some pretty nice moments. And the new characters are cool and cute.
Scarlet Nexus was first announced in May 2020. The game features staff from the Tales of Symphonia / Vesperia team and is directed by Kenji Anabuki. He worked on Symphonia, Abyss, Vesperia, Xillia, and Xillia 2.
