Marvelous announced a slightly more precise release estimate for Rune Factory 5 on Switch. According to Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki, the company announced in a statement it “definitely won’t be releasing Rune Factory 5 before the end of March 2020″. Marvelous further stated they “just started Rune Factory 5‘s development” and would rather “take their time” with the title instead of rushing it.
In the same statement, Marvelous also reiterated that a new Story of Seasons for consoles is currently in development. Marvelous is “taking the right amount of time with it” seeing it’s one of their biggest IPs. This new Story of Seasons game was already revealed through a Famitsu interview in April 2019.
This is pretty unsurprising, Rune Factory 5 was announced in February with nothing more than a logo. The development team is focusing on Rune Factory 4 Special. I personally didn’t expect 5 to release before the last part of 2020.
The development team revealed slightly more about Rune Factory 4 Special and Rune Factory 5 in an interview. More details on one of Rune Factory 4‘s new additions, the “Newlywed Stories” mode, will be revealed on a live stream on May 15 20:00 JST . The stream will include the same guests as the previous one along with Ayana Taketatsu, who voices Rune Factory 4‘s Dolce. You’ll be able to watch it on YouTube, Periscope, and Niconico.
You can read our summary of the previous stream, where it was revealed Rune Factory 4 Special save data will unlock an “extremely nice bonus” in Rune Factory 5. Lastly, we’ve also explained why Rune Factory is huge.
Rune Factory 4 Special launches on July 25 in Japan, and in late 2019 in the west, on Switch.
