Before I purchased Resident Evil 3, I watched the digital foundry analysis of the game and was quite surprised how much smoother the game ran on the PS4 Pro compared to the Xbox One X. The game ran at a crisp 60 fps on the pro while the Xbox One X would drop even lower than the Xbox One S’s output at times. It inevitably made me purchase the PlayStation version despite wanting to play on my One X. Capcom was aware of the issues and has just released a patch that resolves all of the performance problems.
Thanks to the great analysis from Digital Foundry, we now know that the new patch sits at a nice 60 FPS, on par with the PS4 Pro version of the game. Plus, the full game wasn’t the only thing to get an update. The playable demo also received the patch as well. If you have still not purchased the game and would like to check out the patch for yourself, you can do so through the demo.
While it is a little disappointing that the patch wasn’t available at launch, it is great that Capcom ironed out the issues for the Xbox One version. It would have been nice to have this version at launch just so that I would have some continuity since I bought the Xbox version of RE 2. However, that is just some weird video game tracking thing I do in my head and all that matters is that the game is patched now for new players.
Resident Evil 3 is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. While it might not reach the highs of RE 2 Remake, I had a wonderful time playing through this remake as well. Make sure to check out DualShockers’ official review of the game right here.
