Ubisoft has announced that South Park: The Stick of Truth on Nintendo Switch will be releasing digitally on September 25, 2018 for $29.99 USD. There is no planned retail release. This port was first reported in Ubisoft’s first-quarter financials for the fiscal 2018-2019 year for an unspecified date in September. Development of the port was handled by South Park Digital Studios.

Originally released in 2014 and developed by Obsidian Entertainment, The Stick of Truth was well regarded as a combination of South Park’s sense of comedy and RPG mechanics. It was later ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and is now making its way to the Nintendo Switch. The Stick of Truth plays out like a classical RPG pitting humans against elves and the player controls the new kid in town to finally bring an end to the never-ending battle.

A sequel, South Park: The Fractured but Whole, was released on October 17, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Obsidian was replaced by Ubisoft San Francisco and the classical fantasy world setting was replaced by superheroes.

Created, written and directed by Trey Parker and Matt Stone and developed by Ubisoft San Francisco, South Park: The Stick of Truth, the winner of numerous 2014 game of the year awards, transports players to the perilous battlefields of the fourth-grade playground, where a young hero will rise, destined to be South Park’s savior.
