What is more fun than abject mayhem in open-world games? Hell — that is practically the whole reason some series like Saints Row and Just Cause exist. However, when you limit that mayhem to explosions set to classical music, there is a special kind of magic that happens. And that is exactly what we get in a fan-made supercut of Red Dead Redemption 2, dynamite, and Edvard Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King.”
Debuting on Reddit from user Battlefrog22 (th0ugh watermarked to an “@jiar300), the cut starts out slow to the iconic classical piece “In the Hall of the Mountain King.” For nearly two minutes, all you see is Arthur lobbing dynamite at unsuspecting NPCs in first-person view. As you would imagine, the NPCs react accordingly: confused, nervous, scared. They get up from their seats; some run, but others are too shocked to even move.
Then when the song reaches full climax, the explosions rain from up high. Trains explode, carriages combust, and furniture shatter in non-stop explosions for almost a minute straight. This goes on until, right at the end, Arthur takes it upon himself to have one final explosion to end it all.
Dynamite is truly satisfying in this game from r/reddeadredemption
Since the game’s release, Red Dead Redemption 2 and the increasingly popular Red Dead Online has been rife with creative fan-made creations. Lest we forget how another Reddit user added their cat into a scene of the game to terrific results.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PS4 and Xbox One, so it’s not too late to pick up a Christmas gift to yourself on Amazon. Or you can hold out for a Nintendo Switch version, provided that Reggie Fils-Aime has his (very improbable) way. Though I wouldn’t be holding your breath on that port anytime soon.
