Rockstar Games made sure there is plenty of space to explore in the open world of Red Dead Redemption 2, but just like the Western Expansion players want to know what is just outside reach. What is beyond uncrossable mountains or beyond the Mexican border? Players are still working out ways to perfect a variety of glitches, the latest of which let you march beyond Tempest Rim to previously-unreachable frozen lakes.
While people have been exploring mostly-developed Mexican maps since late-November, others have been trying to reach the Northern areas to varying success and interesting results. The most popular is an invisible wall just west of Barrow Lagoon. After hitting an unclimbable mountain and parking yourself right against the invisible wall, you set up camp. Waking up, you find yourself over the invisible ridge in a freely explorable frigid setting.
For an example of how to do this and what it looks like, check here:
But once you get past that snowy ridge… what is there? Among other things, Reddit user u/Huntroploria managed to stumble on low-textured but fully rendered frozen maps, easily out of view but placed there by Rockstar North. While it is unlikely that Rockstar is planning to do anything with this space immediately, perhaps we may see this fully developed and incorporated in future Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC.
Aside from trying to break the game’s open world, fans are having a great time just messing around with the world. One fan created a dynamite musical supercut packed with explosions or putting their cat into in-game cutscenes. DualShockers staff have done their own mulling on Red Dead Redemption 2, including why the journal is such absolutely underappreciate feature or how the game attempts and struggles to emulate a modern Western.
Red Dead Redemption 2 pick it up via Amazonis currently available on PS4 and Xbox One; if you haven’t tuned in to one of 2018’s best games, you can .
