Razer has just released new and improved versions of their most popular elite gaming mice – the DeathAdder V2 and the Basilisk V2. A longtime favorite of discerning PC gamers and casuals, the original DeathAdder has sold more than 10 million units worldwide. The Basilisk appeals more to the hardcore gamer and features 11 programmable buttons including a multi-function paddle and customizable scroll wheel resistance. Both mice are available now.

The DeathAdder V2 was designed with medium to large hands in mind and retains much of the same signature design and ergonomics with just a few tweaks to its shape. The mouse features an improved sweat-resistant coating and rubberized side grips for better control. The scroll wheel has been refined for fine-tuned, notched scrolling at a lower resistance. The DeathAdder V2 is lightweight and clocks in at just 82g.

“With the DeathAdder V2, we’ve taken the most iconic gaming mouse on the market and improved it even further, to give gamers the ultimate weapon and honor the DeathAdder’s reputation of being ‘the unfair advantage’.” – Alvin Cheung, Senior Vice President of Razer’s Peripherals Business Unit.

The biggest improvements to the DeathAdder V2 come from the Razer Focus+ Optical which tracks 20,000 dots per inch up from 16,000 DPI. According to Razer, this is the highest sensor specifications on the market. Precision is further enhanced with the additions of Smart Tracking, Asymmetric Cut Off and Motion Sync. The DeathAdder V2 no longer relies on mechanical switches for the buttons and instead registers clicks through infrared light beams. This new technology reduces lag and helps prevent accidental double-clicking.

Meanwhile, the Basilisk V2 uses the same internal makeup of the DeathAdder V2 but features more buttons that can be customized through Razer’s app. Unlike the DeathAdder V2, the Basilisk V2 has undergone more cosmetic changes to improve the design which many gamers found awkward with the first iteration.

The DeathAdder V2 retails for $69.99, while the Razer Basilisk retails for $79.99. Don’t miss out, especially if you are looking to upgrade your RGB cosmetics with your other Razer devices.
