After several years of anticipation, the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima is now just a week away from release. The open-world title from Sucker Punch Productions is not only a brand new IP from the acclaimed creators of the inFamous series, but also marks one of the final PS4 exclusives on the horizon before the release of the PS5. If you’re looking forward to playing Sucker Punch’s samurai epic as much as I am, the good news is that you can start prepping for the game’s launch by downloading it today.

Sony has officially flipped the switch on preloading for Ghost of Tsushima, allowing those that have preordered the game digitally on the PlayStation Store to begin downloading the game ahead of its release next week. Overall, the download comes in at just about 34.67 GB, making for a much smaller download size than the PS4’s last major exclusive release, The Last of Us Part II (which was nearly 100GB).

After being shown at events like E3 and PlayStation Experience, we don’t have too much longer to wait for Ghost of Tsushima. In terms of our coverage for the game, we won’t have a review up at embargo (which is set for Tuesday, July 14), but it won’t be too long after. You can expect our full review of Ghost of Tsushima within a week or two of the game’s launch on July 17, given that it seems like the game will be a pretty hefty open-world experience of its own.

In the meantime, if you’re looking to read more on the game before its launch, you can check out all of our coverage on Ghost of Tsushima right here. You can also read our new editorial by our own David Gill, who highlighted the top 5 samurai movies that you should watch before preparing to play the epic PS4 exclusive.

Ghost of Tsushima will release exclusively for PS4 on July 17, 2020.
