Sony has deployed a brand new update for the PS4 today (June 22), but don’t get too excited as it looks like the update is simply for stability improvements.
Even though we are now on the next-generation of PlayStation console, Sony still continues to support their previous console. Just recently, the 8.50 update was released for the PS4 which included new cross-generation share play.
But it wasn’t all sunshine and roses in the previous update, as it also removed the Communities feature. This was something many PlayStation fans weren’t happy about. Read the full patch notes for the previous PS4 update at the link below, or keep reading to find today’s patch notes.

PS4 8.52 Update
The latest PS4 update now brings the console to version 8.52 and doesn’t appear to add or remove any features from the console. Some users are reporting that the UI and PlayStation Store appear to load quicker following the update, but this could simply be down to personal internet connection or the physical console itself.
Today’s (June 22) PS4 update is simply to improve system performance, which can be seen in the patch notes below.
Users should be able to boot up their consoles right now and the System Software update should begin downloading automatically. Should this not occur, the update can be downloaded for the official PlayStation website.
As of writing, the latest 8.52 update has not been uploaded to the PlayStation website. If you are having troubles updating, we recommend waiting until the site has updated with information on the latest version.
