Microsoft promised to talk about Project xCloud more during X019, and they certainly followed through on that. During the show, we learned about several new things that will be happening with the cloud-based game streaming service in 2020.
To start, Project xCloud will be coming to Windows 10 PC next year, which is a pretty big development. They also said that they plan on bringing Project xCloud to “every device where you want to play” so hopefully it will be coming to more things in the near future. They also confirmed that Bluetooth Controller support is coming to Project xCloud. Yes, this means you can use a DualShock 4 to play Xbox games. It was confirmed that the preview for the service is expanding into Canada, Western Europe, Japan and India in 2020 as well, so more people will be able to try the service out.
Finally, Xbox Game Pass support for Project xCloud was confirmed, Microsoft’s game subscription service is already an incredibly great deal, so it is cool that players will be able to stream those games as well soon. With Project xCloud expanding next year and Google Stadia releasing on November 19, this is definitely an exciting time for cloud-based gaming.
