We knew before the release of both Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee that the newest pair of titles in the Pokemon series were likely destined to do well at market. Now that the initial sales for the games have been revealed though, their success is perhaps even greater than what was anticipated beforehand.
In a new tweet from the Japanese wing of The Pokemon Company, it was announced that Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee have collectively sold 3 million units after one week on the market. In addition to being a successful launch for the Pokemon series itself, this launch has now become the best first-week release in the short history of the Switch.
Obviously, the fact that the Switch’s install base has grown since other noteworthy releases on the platform like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey has definitely attributed to the Pokemon Let’s Go games breaking this week one record. It should be interesting to see if Super Smash Bros. Ultimate can quickly surpass this total when it releases in just a few short weeks.
