The developers for Yooka-Laylee, Playtonic Games, announced on Twitter recently that they hit 1 million players worldwide. Yooka-Laylee came out of Kickstarter campaign raised enough money for some former Rare employees to develop their own Banjo-Kazooie spiritual as Playtonic.
Wahey! We’ve hit a milestone of over 1 million #YookaLaylee players! Have a massive thank you from all of us at Playtonic, in the form of a fresh photo of the world’s most gorgeous 47-year-old, Kev Bayliss (bottom right), with his colleagues. pic.twitter.com/AZOX7PLw9F

Yooka-Laylee’s clear success should hopefully give the 3D platformer genre some more attention and respect going forward. Playtonic Games recently added the 64-bit mode for gamers to enjoy the 3D platform with that nostalgia filter the game deserves. The main characters of the game also were added into Brawlout as well.
Other than that, things have been pretty quiet at Playtonic. It remains to be seen whether we will get a sequel to this game that came out over a year ago. For now, Yooka-Laylee fans just have the KickStarted graphic novel Yooka-Laylee and the Kracklestone to look forward to.
