Today, Supermassive Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment announced release dates for two very different but very unique upcoming PlayStation VR titles. The best part is that they will both be arriving before the end of 2017.
The first of these two games, The Inpatient, will release on November 21, 2017. For those who may not remember, The Inpatient was first revealed to the world in June during Sony’s E3 showcase. The game takes place in Blackwood Sanatorium some 60 years before the events of Supermassive Games’ 2015 hit, Until Dawn. The Inpatient is inherently a horror game, so those who aren’t a fan of some scares — myself included — might want to double check themselves before strapping the PS VR headset to their face this November.
Next up is Bravo Team, which also made its debut during Sony’s E3 showing a few months back. This first-person shooter will be arriving just a few weeks after The Inpatient and will release on December 5. Bravo Team focuses on cover-based mechanics and also contains two-player online co-op so that you can enjoy the experience with a friend. Perhaps best of all, it will also take advantage of the PS VR Aim Controller which came bundled with some versions of Farpoint earlier this year.
To go along with the release date announcements, Supermassive Games also released a new story trailer for The Inpatient, which sheds some more light on the game’s narrative. You can find this new video at the bottom of this page.
While some have complained that PS VR hasn’t been receiving enough new releases, its nice to see developers like Supermassive Games doubling down on the hardware and giving us two great looking games later this year.
