Pixel Ripped 1995 from Arvore is an upcoming VR game-within-a-game. The follow-up to Pixel Ripped 1989 builds on the game’s meta-narrative while providing players a new host of games inspired by the hits of the mid-90s. As with the 1989 version, it’s a bit of a wild premise. You play as a 90s kid playing all the latest hits. Not only will you get to soak in that nostalgic gameplay, but you’ll also need to navigate the trials and tribulations of being a 90s teen. Give it a look below.

As mentioned above, this isn’t just a collection of games inspired by 90s classics. Sure, those are present, but you’ll also be interacting with the game’s “real world” environments. That means sneaking in games when your parents are asleep. You might even hit up the local game store to argue about which new console is best. Or maybe you’ll spend an afternoon on the boardwalk trying out the latest arcade releases. Arvore aims to do more than just give you spin-offs of those classic games. They want to make you feel like you’re actually living the time period.

Games included span a host of genres. Expect to see everything from action RPGs to racing games to 2D platformers. The variety makes sure that everyone has something to enjoy. Hopefully, the quality holds up to the original release, which was a great, relatively early example of what an indie studio can do in the VR medium

Pixel Ripped 1995 comes to Oculus Quest, Oculus PC, SteamVR, and Viveport on April 23. PSVR users will have to wait a bit longer, with the team targeting May as the potential release window.
