As events and leagues from the video game and beyond continue to postpone or shut down entirely, it ‘s no surprise to see the Overwatch League cancel their remaining events for the next few months. Concerns over the coronavirus have already forced GDC, SXSW, and E3 to close, and even major sports leagues like Serie A (Italy’s top-flight soccer division) have canceled their remaining fixtures for March. Unfortunately, the Overwatch League’s remaining Homestands for March and April are the latest to be suspended.

The cancellation means that the Homestands for the Boston Uprising and Paris Eternal will no longer be taking place. The teams are working to get with current ticketholders and work out a solution. Overwatch League organizers are working on finding a way to safely play regular-season games as soon as possible. As of now, any event happening after April is scheduled to go ahead as planned. However, that could easily change as we move forward, so make sure to stay tuned either here or on Twitter for updates as they come.
Obviously, no one wants to see any of these events shut down. That said, with how quickly COVID-19 has spread, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Hopefully, by the time May rolls around, the coronavirus is more under control and events can proceed as planned.
As it stands, the next scheduled Overwatch League Homestands take place on May 9-10. As mentioned above, stick with DualShockers for Overwatch League and industry event updates as they become available.
