Outriders is the upcoming third-person shooter from Square Enix and People Can Fly. The game tasks you and up to two friends with taking on the roles of super-powered fighters trying to survive on an alien planet. The game is slated to release later this year, so it wasn’t much of a surprise today when the team announced they would be showing more gameplay soon. Starting next week, expect to get monthly Outrider updates.
Obviously, People Can Fly isn’t giving much away here. This is, after all, an announcement of an announcement. You don’t usually announce anything too tantalizing with those. That said, when I went to play Outriders at an event earlier this year, I definitely had a few questions about how the game plays. Particularly how they’re handling difficulty.
The way PCF is incorporating what they call “world tier” levels seemed like a great step in reactive difficulty management. They weren’t able to speak too much to the underlying systems at the event. I’m hopeful they can talk about it more in these broadcasts. Plus, there is still one more character set to be revealed and, if the other three are anything to go off of, it’s going to be great.
As mentioned above, Outriders is set to launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One later this year. The game will also come to PS5 and Xbox Series X, presumably around those consoles’ respective launch dates. Be sure to check back next week for all the news out the first Outriders Broadcast.
